Joanna Settle, Artistic Director
Joanna Settle has directed classic and modern classic work by Sophocles, Ionesco, Shakespeare, Euripides, Pinter and Beckett, among others. She directed "9 Parts of Desire," which won two Lucille Lortel Awards and was hailed by The New Yorker as "an example of how art can remake the world." Recently, Joanna directed "In Darfur" for the New York Public Theater. Joanna is a graduate of the Andrew W. Mellon Directing Program at the Juilliard School and a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts/Theater Communications Group Fellowship for Directors.
Awoye Timpo, Associate Artistic Director
New York directing credits include Rhinoceros, Lost in the Supermarket, Shakespeare’s Sonnets on Tap, Founding Fathers at the NY Historical Society, and numerous workshops and readings. Awoye recently completed a Van Lier Directing Fellowship at the Public Theater and has worked in numerous capacities at McCarter Theatre, the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and The Juilliard School.
Translations include Ionesco's The Bald Soprano and Rhinoceros as well as The Vanished and A Crying Friend by Olivier Coyette. She received a BA in Theatre, French and Spanish (Ohio Wesleyan University), and an MA in Contemporary French Studies (University of London—Institut Brittanique de Paris). Awoye is the Artistic Director of Novisi Productions, Co-Founder/Director of C3 Tap Co-operative and a member of the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab and Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab.
Stacey Ballis, Education Consultant
Stacey is the President and Founder of Dayton Associates Consulting Group, which specializes in strategic planning, arts management, education, and program design and development for businesses, arts organizations and educational institutions. She also serves as Associate Producer for Genesis at the Crossroads, an arts and arts-education non-for-profit working in Arts Diplomacy domestically and internationally. She served for seven years as Director of Education and Community Programs for Goodman Theatre, Chicago’s oldest and largest not-for-profit producer. She held the same position at Court Theatre for four years, prior to which she was a teacher of English in the Chicago Public High Schools. She holds a BA in English Literature and American Studies from Brandeis University, and an MA in Education Teaching and Curriculum Development from DePaul University, where she graduated with highest academic honors. She holds a 6-12 grade Illinois Teaching Certificate for English and Language arts. She has taught adult education courses for the Chicago Public Schools, and the University of Chicago, and received educators fellowships from the Royal Shakespeare Company and University of Chicago. She has served on panels and as a guest speaker for the Spring Hill National Theater Educators Retreat, Crossing Paths national art conference, TCG Conference, and Illinois One State in the Arts Conference, and is currently on the Advisory Board for Blessed Unrest Theater in NYC.
Rocco Natale, Administrative Manager
Rocco holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees from New York University in Psychology and Dramatic Studies as well as a Master of Arts degree in Performing Arts Administration and Producing. Recipient of the Newington-Cropsey Fellowship and the Founders Day Award, Rocco has received a Siff Grant for his work in arts education and production. Prior to arriving at Shakespeare on the Sound, Rocco has had the pleasure of working with Signature Theatre Company, The Boys & Girls Club, The University of Connecticut, The Mirror Repertory Theatre, and Hospital Audiences as a Resident, Consultant, Administrative Director and Producer.

Emily Bryan, Managing Director
Emily is a Darien native and a former Shakespeare professor. She has taught at Dominican College, West Point, Northwestern and Brown. Prior to writing her dissertation on the lives of boy actors on the Shakespearean stage, Emily worked for the Public Theater / New York Shakespeare Festival as the assistant to the Executive Producer and as a Casting Assistant. She has also worked as a dramaturg for the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab and gave pre-show lectures for the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. MA, The Shakespeare Institute, Stratford-Upon-Avon; PhD, Northwestern.
