Shakespeare's Playgroup (for children ages 4-6)
It’s never too early to get to know Shakepeare! Shakespeare’s Playgroup is a 2-hour session each day where creative expression abounds through plenty of playful activities, with a Shakespearean twist! This is a creative and playful introduction to Shakespeare.

Shakespeare's Mini-Camp (for children ages 6-10)
A chance to learn about Shakespeare on the Sound's 2013 production of "As You Like It" with Emily Bryan, Director of Education! Fun activities, crafts and games from the camps, but in a shortened version where we explore the characters and plot straight from the production!

"As You Like It" Fascinator Hats Workshop

In this summer's Shakespeare on the Sound production of "As You Like It," characters from the court will be adorned with "fascinator hats" as part of their costume. The Rowayton Arts Center and Shakespeare on the Sound have teamed up to offer a 1-day workshop to make your own "Fascinator!"
Participants will learn a little bit about the play and costume design but will spend most of the time creating their own hats that can be worn to the park or kept as a beautiful piece of art. A section of the audience will be specially reserved for our “Fascinator” workshop guests and families for the Friday, June 21 performance!
Workshop will be led by RAC Artists and Shakespeare on the Sound Teaching Artists. Workshop open to all ages.

The Groundlings (for students entering 2-4th grade)
The Groundlings explore Shakespeare, his world and his plays through ensemble building activities. Students will be introduced to movement, vocal technique, and creating a character. Via arts and crafts participants will delve into literacy and vocabulary activities. Camp will culminate with short performance piece.

The Globe Players (for students entering 5-7th grade)
The Globe Players will investigate the complexities of Shakespeare’s language, create bold characters, and explore movement and vocal technique fitting to a young actor. They will also have an introduction to stage combat techniques and clowning. The Globe Players will strengthen their ability to work as an ensemble and create a half hour performance piece performed the last day of camp.

Scene Study Shakespeare (for students entering 8-9th grade)
This class is for students interested in furthering their discovery of Shakespeare’s text. Students will work on specific scenes, deciphering text, inner characters, and making bold acting choices. This is a great way to learn the complexities of Shakespeare’s characters and plays while performing.
